Quick and easy account maintenance
The IMail Administrator makes e-mail management so easy that even a novice can perform account maintenance and other common administrative tasks. It provides you with all the tools you need to quickly and easily perform service administration on your IMail server. You get fingertip access to your users' accounts, aliases, and virtual domain configurations. You can even automatically send warning if a users mailbox is about to reach max.

Optional wizards prompt you through the process of adding new users, aliases, and domains as well as setting restrictions on mailbox size, number of messages, and removing old mail from the server to prevent hard disk overload.

Easy remote administration
IMail's console application can now run locally or remotely. This means that administrators can save time and address server issues more quickly since they can connect to and manage a server from any location. Tasks and commands are implemented in the same manner whether an administrator is at his desk or at a remote site. Additionally, administrators can connect to multiple servers and do not have to be physically at a server to administer it. This is especially attractive to service providers that have many servers and customers dispersed throughout a wide geography.

Smoother service via real-time statistics
Real-time statistics and user information in Web Messaging help administrators monitor IMail Server usage and enforce usage policies. Administrators can view system statistics, such as the number of users logged in and amount of data sent and received, allowing them to quickly pinpoint and troubleshoot issues. Monitoring server traffic also allows administrators to significantly reduce the amount of spam sent to users since administrators can deny access to someone they see sending a large amount of e-mail to the server.

"The ability to view real-time usage is powerful. I can make adjustments to my server to address overload or a large influx of spam. End-users will not be aware of the behind-the-scenes activity when adjustments are made. Their e-mail service will continue uninterrupted and with minimal spam intrusions, which is my ultimate goal."

Built-in Monitoring, Notification, and Restart
Be the first to know when there's a service problem with your mail server. IMail's built-in monitor service keeps you informed of your server's status by monitoring specific services and alerting you via desktop alarm, pager, or e-mail when there's a problem. The services monitored include SMTP, POP3, WWW, News, and DNS services in addition to an external router and server disk space. Each of the monitored services can be set up to automatically restart, or can be restarted remotely using IMail Server's remote administration capabilities.

Command Line Utilities
IMail Server includes several command line utilities for performing routine or repetitive tasks in batch mode or in conjunction with other applications. For example, you can set up a web page to call an IMail command line utility to allow users to sign up for a mail account and automatically create that account. IMail's command line utilities include programs for:
  • Adding and modifying users, aliases, domains, and LDAP information
  • Deleting old mail by date
  • Sending mail to all users on a domain
  • Creating a mail message
  • Clearing out the spool directory
Nobody Alias
Normally, IMail Server will bounce email addressed to non-existent user accounts. The creation of a "nobody" alias allows IMail Server to send these messages to a single user account. This is often used in cases where all email for a domain is going to one user account.
